About us and Woodlands

Woodlands was a family home for over 100 years but since her three daughters moved out ten years ago, Thrup moved next door to Woodlands Wing. Having welcomed countless visitors over the years for summer fun or for her daughters’ unique weddings, Thrup has received countless compliments about the house and garden and its ‘special vibes’; she decided to share the house’s beauty and charm with like-minded visitors by converting it to a holiday let in 2024.

Thrup has looked after her organic garden at Woodlands for 37 years and, having recently taken a rare two year break from her vegetables, she would like to get some seeds sown soon and may be able to offer her visitors some of her summer harvest. Now that her daughters don’t regularly descend on the place for a detox, she would no doubt love to share her healthy vegetarian recipes and tips with any interested visitors. If Thrup is at home, she and her cat, Zeta, would be delighted to meet you at the start of your stay but she is very respectful of your privacy and understands if you don’t manage to cross paths with her and would love for you to feel that the whole place is yours.

She has built a screen below Woodlands’ bottom lawn to give her private access to the vegetable patch and tennis court below without disturbing your holiday.

Jen is her daughter who is managing the holiday let for her and Danny/Rosie are our wonderful local caretakers who are always happy to help if we are away.
